Srettha Thavisin assured Bangkok residents power costs will be reduced

Srettha, a former property mogul, promised during his campaigning at Rama VIII Bridge on Monday that his party would concentrate on addressing the pressing issues that city residents confront, including their power and fuel bills and cost of living.

“Other parties have pledged to reduce power costs in order to win supporters. I beg you, do not fall for their falsehoods. “Despite being in office for a while, they have done nothing up until this point, when the election is just around the corner. Why did they wait so long to act?

It’s time for a new administration that can deliver on its promises, he added. A cost-of-living crisis and rising inflation shocked Thailand last year as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which drove up the price of oil and other commodities globally.

Although the price of oil has stabilized globally this year, Thai consumers are still suffering. Consumers received some respite on Monday when the energy regulator announced that the price of electricity will decrease by 2 satang per unit starting in May after experiencing escalating power bills since the beginning of this year.

In addition, Srettha promised a fixed 20 baht fee for all elevated and underground trains in the city, as well as a minimum pay of 600 baht per day in four years, beginning at more than 400 baht the following year.Pheu Thai has also pledged to increase the starting salary for people with bachelor’s degrees to 25,000 baht, provide subsidies for households making less than 20,000 baht per month, and give out 10,000 bahts in digital currency to everyone over the age of 16 in an effort to boost the local economy.

As of this week, Srettha will be forced to campaign for Pheu Thai without colleague candidate for prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who yesterday gave birth.
