Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) convened on Monday to lower power price

The fuel tariff adjustment subcommittee’s recommendation to lower power prices from 4.72 baht per unit to 4.70 baht per unit starting in May was approved by the commission. Since the Ft was not altered, the proposal does not require a public hearing, according to ERC Secretary-General Komkrit Tantravanich.

The fuel tariff accounts for changes in the unavoidable expenses associated with producing energy, such as fuel costs and purchasing power.

Three times a year—in January, May, and September—the ERC evaluates the Ft.

As electricity demand will peak in April before declining in the following months, the Energy Ministry had predicted in February that power bills for both residential and commercial users could decrease with May’s Ft adjustment.

Additionally, the ministry anticipated a decrease in the cost of imported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) during that time, allowing the nation to switch from using expensive diesel to less expensive LPG to produce energy.
