During the Chinese New Year festival, Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok is expecting a significant increase in passenger numbers, with an estimated 2.36 million passengers passing through the airport. This translates to an average of about 182,000 people per day. The airport expects around 1.94 million international passengers and approximately 417,000 domestic passengers, marking a considerable 32.73% increase compared to the previous year’s festival.

To cater to the influx of Chinese passengers, the airport is implementing various measures. These include providing interpreters and Chinese-language signage to assist and guide Chinese travelers during their time at the airport.

Several airlines have requested additional flights during the festival. Bangkok Airways has requested 73 extra flights, Thai Vietjet has requested 42, and Shanghai Airlines has requested 26. This represents a significant 91.53% increase in both arrivals and departures compared to the previous year.

In an effort to enhance passenger convenience, the airport encourages the use of automated check-in and baggage drop systems. These automated systems enable passengers to check in and drop off their luggage without having to wait at airline counters, providing a more streamlined experience.
