Suvarnabhumi Airport is well-known for its long queues, particularly for arriving passengers.
Traditionally, business and first-class travelers have been able to skip these lines through a ‘fast track’ or priority immigration channel. However, reports from the US blog Loyalty Lobby indicate that this lane has now been closed, forcing these premium travelers to join the crowds in the lengthy immigration queues.
As frequent visitors can attest, Bangkok’s Fast Track service has had a somewhat inconsistent history, having been launched, redesigned, and relaunched multiple times in various formats.
At one point, Thai Airways even operated a dedicated priority lane for first-class and business-class passengers, as well as top-tier frequent flyers. However, this service was discontinued several years ago, leaving premium cabin passengers with special vouchers that allowed access to the airport’s general Fast Track lane.
According to Loyalty Lobby, during a recent visit to BKK, it was noted that while the Fast Track lane has disappeared, two types of lanes remain:
- A priority lane for elderly travelers (over 70), disabled individuals, and pregnant women.
- A Diplomats/Officials lane reserved for holders of the APEC Business Travel Card and certain Thai Visa holders, such as those issued by the Board of Investment.
