National Platform Gives Researchers Cloud Access to Global Quantum Hardware

Thailand this week launched Quantum Club Thailand, a national quantum technology platform anchored at True Digital Park on Bangkok's Sukhumvit Road, giving researchers and companies cloud access to more than 26 quantum computing hardware systems worldwide. The initiative unites the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, conglomerate Charoen Pokphand Group, telecoms operator True Corporation, the Quantum Technology Research Initiative Consortium, and Chicago-based quantum cloud platform qBraid.

Rather than investing in domestic quantum processors, Thailand's model relies on qBraid's hardware-agnostic software to connect Thai researchers to machines from providers including IonQ, QuEra, Rigetti, Pasqal and Oxford Quantum Circuits. Suphachai Chearavanont, Senior Vice Chairman of CP Group and Chairman of True Corporation, said the country's long-term objective is to position itself as ASEAN's quantum hub, pointing to True Digital Park's network of more than 5,800 global partners as a foundation for the effort.

Club Targets Network Optimisation and Quantum-Safe Security First

Ekaraj Panjavinin, Head of Research and Innovation at True Corporation, said the club is built around three core programs: Quantum Academy for training researchers and students, Quantum Industry for pairing companies with real-world use cases, and Quantum Lab for incubating research at True Digital Park. He said the qBraid platform lowers the investment costs that previously kept many Thai organisations from experimenting with quantum computing.

Early priorities include telecommunications network optimisation, energy efficiency and post-quantum cryptography, areas where global operators such as NTT DOCOMO have already shown commercial gains from quantum annealing. The Quantum Technology Research Initiative Consortium, which manages more than 80 quantum prototypes and connects over 120 researchers from 19 partner organisations, will support the effort through its existing research base, while a proposed public-private infrastructure fund floated by Suphachai signals CP Group's ambition to treat quantum computing as long-term national infrastructure rather than a research experiment.
