Thai Airways plans to relist on the stock exchange in 2025

Thai Airways Bangkok One 6 Feb 2024

Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) is expected to make a comeback on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 2025, according to the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO). The airline has shown signs of significant financial improvement and has been implementing operational streamlining efforts.

In the second quarter of 2023, THAI reported a profit of nearly 2.3 billion baht, which represents a remarkable 171% increase compared to the previous year. This positive financial performance indicates a strong turnaround and suggests that the airline may exit the rehabilitation phase by the end of the year.

The anticipated revival of the tourism sector is a crucial factor in THAI’s recovery and potential relisting on the stock exchange. It is projected that there will be around 33.5 million foreign tourists, resulting in a projected 23.6% increase in tourism revenue. These promising trends in the tourism industry are expected to support THAI’s improvement and contribute to its relisting.

Overall, THAI’s significant profit increase in the second quarter of 2023 and the positive outlook for the tourism sector are positive indicators for the airline’s recovery and prospective return to the stock exchange.
