Thai Smile flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok returns to the gate.

An international traveler demanded the plane return to the terminal gate so he could retrieve his left-behind possessions at Chiang Mai International Airport, forcing a Thai Smile Airways flight to make an emergency stop as it taxied down the runway.

A video of the incident where a foreign passenger asked a flight attendant to stop the aircraft because he forgot his baggage was published by a Thai TikTok user named bandzlam. The video recorder also turned to her left side, revealing that the jet was still taxiing down the runway despite the foreigner’s call for it to stop.

The video’s caption claimed that the foreign man was an Arabian traveler, although the airline has not yet confirmed this. The Tiktoker reported…

On July 19, the incident happened at Chaing Mai. A flight attendant was forced to stop the aircraft for this forgotten bag by an Arabian passenger as it was about to take off. The man stated that the bag included his cash and valuables. Finally, the airline ordered the entire family off the aircraft. The conversation between the flight attendant and the international passenger was unclear due to the loudness in the cabin. The pilot informed the other passengers of the temporary interruption due to the urgent request before takeoff.

“For the sake of everyone’s safety, we must temporarily cancel the flight. It will take two to five minutes for us to return the impacted customer to the terminal. We sincerely apologize for the delay.

According to the TikTok user, the international traveler insisted on stepping off the plane by himself to get the suitcase, despite airport staff urging him to bring along all of his family members for safety reasons.

In the comment sections, Thai internet users voiced their perspectives on the matter. The majority of them advised the travelers to take good care of their possessions in order to minimize any inconvenience to other travelers. The remarks said…

“I once left my phone behind in Shang Hai. At that point, the plane wasn’t even moving, but the flight attendant wouldn’t let me get off and didn’t even offer any assistance. It teaches us to protect our possessions. “Arabic style, self-centered.”

“I forgot my belongings in a foreign country, but the flight attendant helped me by working with their team and getting my stuff to my destination.”

“This is a plane, not a city bus,”

To avoid any risks, such as leaving something dangerous on board, commanders often never permit anyone to leave the aircraft.

Later, Thai Smile Airline clarified the issue in an interview with Channel 3. The incident happened on the flight from Chaing Mai to Bangkok, the airline explained. The foreign travelers insisted on ending their trip, and the cabin crew was informed of their complaint.

The airline emphasized that they adhered to protocol by returning to the airport to allow the impacted passengers to disembark.

The necessary departments, according to ThaiRath, have confirmed that this incident had no impact on any other planes that followed the same itinerary.
