Thailand ranks 3rd in the world for top woman executives

Apart from the Philippines and Thailand, two other Southeast Asian nations, Malaysia and Indonesia, were also recognized in the rankings. According to the Grant Thornton survey, the Philippines boasts the highest proportion of women in senior management roles, with 43% of top executive positions within companies being occupied by women.

The Philippines leads with the highest percentage of women holding senior management roles, where 43% of top executive positions are filled by females. Following closely is Thailand, with 41% of top executive positions held by women, and 42% of companies having female CEOs or managing directors. The Filipino business sector has consistently demonstrated strong female representation in leadership positions, as reflected in previous surveys.

In addition to the Philippines and Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia were also featured in the rankings, with Malaysia securing the seventh spot and Indonesia ranking tenth in terms of the percentage of companies led by female executives.

Thailand, with 41% of women in senior management roles, notably stands out for having the highest percentage of companies with female CEOs or managing directors (42%) among the 28 countries surveyed. This trend highlights the increasing presence of women in key leadership positions throughout Southeast Asia, showcasing positive strides in gender diversity and inclusivity within the region’s corporate landscape.

Survey Insights from the Philippines

The survey encompassed 4,891 medium-sized enterprises, with Filipino businesses consistently achieving high rankings in previous surveys. Notably, they secured the second spot in 2023, fourth in 2022, and first in both 2021 and 2020. These rankings underscore the substantial role played by women in leadership positions within the Philippines, underscoring their significant contributions to the corporate sector in the country.
