The Air Force agrees to hand over the golf course

Air force golf course Bangkok one Feb 11 2024

The Kantarat Golf Course, situated between runways at Don Mueang Airport, will be given up by the air force for the development of state projects. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed his gratitude for the air force’s decision to support public interest, following discussions with Air Chief Marshal Punpakdee Pattanakul. A joint committee will work with the air force to transfer the golf course to the government for public benefit.

The decision to hand over the golf course was influenced by the government’s plan to enhance Don Mueang Airport. Additionally, the air force has agreed to adjust pilot training schedules to minimize impact on commercial flights and to open part of its facilities for use by a nearby commercial airport.

Furthermore, the air force will allow construction of the outer ringroad to pass through an area of Wing 41, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in central Chiang Mai. Discussions also covered the improvement of welfare for air force personnel.
