The first “Sabuy Square” was officially opened on Thursday by Prawet district city governor Chadchart Sittipunt

The governor expressed his gratitude to Seacon Square for launching the “Sabuy Square” project, which promotes solar energy and mass transit to cut down on energy use and PM2.5 air pollution caused by traffic.

Long-term exposure to high concentrations of PM2.5, or dust particles with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or less, can result in early death from heart and lung issues.

Seacon Square’s two shopping malls, Seacon Square Srinagarindra and Seacon Bang Khae, both have solar power harvesting panels on their roofs. According to the mall operator, Seacon Square malls are the top renewable energy retail locations in Thailand thanks to their over 51,000 square meters of solar panels, which have the capacity to produce 8.5 megawatts of electricity.

The Metropolitan Waterworks Authority constructed a free water fountain, while National Telecom (NT) supplied free WiFi at the bus stop as part of their support for the Sabuy Square initiative, according to Chadchart.

According to Chadchart, “The air-conditioned bus stop still requires improvement in a number of areas, including burying communication wires, which will require assistance from other parties as the city cannot do this alone.”Jointly developed by Seacon Square, Cool Cool Ltd., and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Sabuy Square aims to be an example of energy efficiency while shielding users of public transportation from heat and air pollution.

The 40 sq. m. solar-powered, air-conditioned bus stop has space for 40 persons to wait for city buses, vans, and taxis. It has a drinking fountain and free WiFi, as well as USB charging connections, CCTV, a display showing oncoming buses, and a panic button to call the police.
