The majority of people anticipate that the new administration will increase both the personal and corporate income tax rates

The study was conducted from April 20 to 24 by the Clean Politics Network and the National Institute of Development Administration (Nida Poll). The Nida Poll claimed to have conducted phone interviews with 1,310 sample respondents from all throughout the nation who are at least 18 years old.

When questioned about how they would pay for their promises of cash transfers or state welfare:

– 49.62% of respondents predicted that the business and personal income tax rates would increase under the next administration.

– 27.86% of respondents stated that the funds would be cut from the budgets of several ministries.

The commitments would be paid for using foreign loans, according to -25.73%.

– 21.15% thought the government would fund the handouts with its treasury reserves and foreign exchange reserves.

– 18.55% claimed the incoming administration would eradicate corruption and make savings to carry out the promises.

14.27% of respondents stated the government would borrow money from nearby banks.

3.82 percent opted not to comment.

When asked if they were aware of the financial requirements for each distribution promise:

– 66.72% of respondents answered they were unsure and had never computed the necessary sums.

– 14.81% claimed to be informed and to have calculated how much would be required.

– 11.75% indicated they were unaware and unconcerned.

-6.72% of respondents believed that each party owed it to the public to disclose the precise amount needed to fund its policies.

When asked who they believed should be held accountable if the populist promises made prior to the election caused a financial crisis or a crisis with public debt:

The political parties that developed and carried out the policies account for 44.35 percent.

41.68%: The politicians who created and carried out the policies

39.47% of the electorate

14.43%: The Election Commission for allowing populist promises to be used to win the election.

9.62%: Permanent employees who carry out the policies set by legislators.

6.34%: Academics for not alerting the people to the risks associated with populist policies

6.26%: A situation like this would never occur.

1.6%: No remarks.
