The Social Security Fund has paid out 1.2 million baht in compensation to the family of the construction worker who was killed on Rama II Road by a falling slab.

A 54-year-old electrician named Worawut Pannon was died in an accident on Sunday at a construction site for the elevated roadway above Rama II Road. On Tuesday, representatives from the Nong Bua Lamphu Social Security Office paid a visit to his family.

Officials awarded Worawut’s wife, a local of Nong Bua Lamphu’s Na Klang district, compensation for the deceased, who was a Social Security Act insured individual.

The family will receive 50,000 Baht for burial expenses, 1.092 million Baht, or 70% of ten years’ worth of salary, and a pension of 71,669.27 Baht for a death at work. The Social Security Fund has paid out a total of 1,213,669.27 baht in benefits.

One worker was killed, another was hurt, and four passing automobiles were damaged when a concrete slab in front of the Index Living Mall in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian district collapsed onto the road after a sling split, according to the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) report on Sunday.

The construction was put on hold for a week as EXAT ordered an investigation into what caused the accident. It was also said that the project’s contractor, CBT Consortium, would be liable for paying compensation to the families of the slain and injured workers as well as to the owners of the wrecked cars.

According to Tha Kham Police Station, the four owners of the damaged vehicles have gotten in touch with their insurance providers to seek compensation from CBT Consortium.
