Tourist Stranded 1,200km from Destination, Reunited with Lost Belongings by Thai Police

French Traveler Stranded After Koh Tao-Becomes-Doi Tao in Mix-Up, Thai Police Step In

A tourist, known only as Jack, found himself stranded in Lamphun after a Thai driver, misunderstanding his request, took him in the wrong direction. The confusion left him about 1,200 kilometers away from his intended destination of Koh Tao. To make matters worse, Jack lost his wallet and passport, adding to his distress and anxiety about potential scams.

Pol. Sergt. Teerapat Modjod from Song Phi Nong Police Station in Suphan Buri stepped in to help. After escorting Jack to the Mueang Suphan Buri Police Station, they managed to reunite him with his lost belongings, thanks to the kindness of a local citizen who had found them.

In addition to reuniting Jack with his passport and wallet, the police arranged for an interpreter and provided accommodation for him overnight. Officers also made sure he was assisted in continuing his journey to Koh Tao the following day.

While the kindness of the Thai police has been widely praised by netizens, some have expressed surprise at how a tourist could end up so far off track, with Jack having been misdirected by the driver to Doi Tao, a location nearly 1,200 kilometers away from his destination.
