Vietjet Air Paints their A330 into their special tourism livery

As part of a sponsorship with Vietnam’s national tourism authority, Vietjet painted their first widebody aircraft in a tourism livery. One of its Airbus A330s will operate both domestic and international routes while donning the distinctive livery.

The new A330 livery for Vietjet

Vietnam’s national tourism slogan, “Vietnam – Timeless charm,” is painted on the A330 (registration: VN-A814) by the Vietnamese low-cost carrier. On July 12, the aircraft flew for the first time in its new livery from Vientiane to Hanoi, where it will act as “an ambassador to promote Vietnamese rich culture and tourism to the audience throughout the region and the globe.” In the upcoming months, the airline’s A330s will travel to a wide range of nations, including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, China, South Korea, Japan, India, Kazakhstan, and Australia. Vietjet recently stated it would be adding 70% more A330 Australian capacity starting in December and running 34 weekly flights to Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne. By the end of the year, the latter will be seeing a lot more of Vietjet’s A330s. Vietjet suggested that in the near future, other nations would accept its wide bodies.

The significance of the livery

The livery includes the iconic red and yellow of Vietjet as well as additional tourism-related slogans and symbols. A sustainability motto that reads “I love my Fatherland” is among them, as are flower petals in the front of the fuselage. As part of a sponsorship arrangement with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the airline previously applied this livery to its A320 and A321 fleet. According to Vietjet, the goal is to promote “the country’s friendly and hospitable nature” and introduce Vietnam to the rest of the world. To encourage travel to Vietnam, Vietjet has recently introduced a number of tourism-related activities. In addition to several similar giveaways launched earlier in the year, this includes giving away millions of free tickets (excluding taxes and fees of course) across its entire international network from May 24 to May 26. Earlier this month, $0 fares were once again made available to celebrate the restart of Hong Kong flights.

In addition to all of this, travelers booking with Vietjet will immediately receive complete Sky Care travel insurance coverage. This is available across the full domestic and international network of the airline.

Plans for fleet growth

In the upcoming months, Vietjet will increase the number of widebodies in its fleet. By the end of 2023, the all-Airbus airline will have two more A330s added to its fleet of seven now in operation. The carrier will add 10 additional aircraft to its fleet, bringing the total to 87 aircraft, as it aims to increase passenger numbers by 25% this year.
