Khao Yai has been named the second most popular rural destination in Asia for 2025 by the online travel agency Agoda, highlighting Thailand’s growing appeal in the global tourism market.

This ranking, compiled from accommodation searches conducted between February 15 and August 15, 2025, focused on rural areas with populations under 50,000 across eight Asian countries.

Malaysia’s Cameron Highlands ranked first, with Khao Yai (Thailand) coming in second. Other top destinations included Puncak (Indonesia), Fujikawaguchiko (Japan), Kenting (Taiwan), Sa Pa (Vietnam), Munnar (India), and Pyeongchang (South Korea).

Deputy government spokesperson Sasikan Wattanachan commented, “Khao Yai’s forests, waterfalls, wildlife, outdoor activities, and cultural attractions make it a source of national pride, attracting both relaxation seekers and adventure enthusiasts.”

She further emphasized the government’s dedication to promoting natural and cultural destinations internationally to boost income, support local communities, and ensure sustainable tourism growth.
