The On Nut–Lat Krabang elevated road is nearing completion, with its first phase expected to open next month as construction reaches over 90%.
Deputy Bangkok Governor Wisanu Subsompon confirmed the long-delayed project is on track for partial operations by the end of May, following a site inspection in Lat Krabang on Friday.
Structural works have been completed, with remaining tasks focused on surface finishing. Asphalt paving is expected to take 10–15 days, alongside the installation of expansion joints every 200 metres to support structural flexibility and durability.
Lighting systems are already in place, while noise barrier installation is almost complete, requiring only minor finishing work.
One outbound lane towards Hua Takhe–Luang Phaeng Road is scheduled to open by late May 2026, with full operations across all directions targeted for early June.
Authorities will continue monitoring weather conditions, as potential tropical rainfall could impact around 20% of the construction area in the coming days.
City officials are also coordinating with police to manage space beneath the elevated road, including designated short-term loading zones near Hua Takhe Market to minimise disruption to local businesses and commuters.
The 1.9-kilometre project, valued at 1.938 billion baht, follows a 2023 collapse that resulted in two fatalities and 13 injuries, along with damage to nearby infrastructure.
Once fully operational, the elevated road is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in eastern Bangkok.
