BANGKOK RESIDENT QUALIFIES FOR $650,000 JAPAN LPGA EVENT AGED 17

Long term Bangkok resident, Airi Mitsuhashi made her debut on the Japanese LPGA Tour earlier this week in the $650,000 USD, Itoen Ladies Open at the Great Island Club, Chiba.

Having Monday qualified with a superb score of 69 (-3), the 17 year old achieved her dream by playing in a JLPGA event. Unfortunately for Mitsuhashi she struggled in the first round which left her too much to do to make the cut. Scores of 79 and 73 meant that on her debut event she did not make it to the final day but the experience has given her a real taste of what it is like to rub shoulders with the elite of Japanese Women’s golf.

Mitsuhashi said “I was extremely excited and also nervous at the same time”.

Her coach in Bangkok, PGA Professional, Colin White stated “It was only a matter of time before Airi would break through to qualify for a Professional event. She has vast experience of tournament golf all over the world from Scotland, Dubai, Philippines, Japan and Malaysia, the future is certainly bright for Airi”.

We wish Airi all the best in her upcoming tournaments and look forward to welcoming her back to Bangkok.
