Governor Chadchart gives out warning to senior officials regarding corruption

At a gathering of senior executives from 50 district offices, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt gave a harsh warning that anyone found to be corrupt will face strict punishment.

The governor informed those in attendance—without naming any specific individuals—that he had learned that a certain official had allegedly asked a bribe from a businessman for the issuance of a license in the amount of 50,000 Baht. After that, the demand was raised to 300,000 baht.

He asserted that he had proof of the bribe demand and issued a warning that a district chief officer must be held responsible for the actions of their staff members and ensure that they are not engaged in corruption.

In addition, noting anticipated flooding now that the rainy season has begun, the governor advised the district chief officers to be more proactive in resolving urgent issues without needing to wait for his instructions.
