SEC files complaints against the former CEO of Zipmex Thailand

Zipmex Thailand faces allegations from the SEC regarding inconsistencies in customer asset reports compared to those inspected by the SEC. The regulator found that digital assets in Z Wallet were transferred abroad before changes to the terms and conditions were publicly announced.

The former director and CEO, Mr. Ekkalarp Yimwilai, is accused of corruption and deception, allegedly presenting false statements and concealing the truth. The SEC considers this potential offenses under Section 88 of the Digital Assets Act. Zipmex, a cryptocurrency exchange platform based in Singapore, was established in 2019 and has extended its services to various Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
