Thai and Hong Kong officials talk about expanding the production base

The Hong Kong Employers’ Federation and the Thai workers Minister Suchart Chomklin spoke today about fostering collaboration and importing Thai “semi-skilled” workers to satisfy Hong Kong’s need.

According to the Minister, Hong Kong needs workers for a variety of occupations, including engineers, mechanics, and caregivers for the elderly. The minister declared that in order to meet the demands of the labor market, both nations will cooperate to streamline the procedure for importing employees. The Minister claims that the move offers Thai employees a fantastic opportunity to find employment in Hong Kong, contribute to the growth of the nation, and increase their competitiveness.

KGK (Thailand) Co., Ltd., one of the top 5 diamond exporters globally, has chosen to make Thailand its production base for export. Other Hong Kong investors also intend to expand their manufacturing bases to Thailand. The goal of this project is to raise Thailand’s human resources to worldwide levels through collaboration across a number of industries.

Additionally, the Ministry of Labor invited officials from the Hong Kong Employers’ Federation to watch training sessions to improve the abilities of Thai workers in single-dish meals, hot stone massage, and Thai cuisine preparation. This indicates how Thai workers are constantly improving their skills.

Every year, the Ministry of Labor hopes to deploy at least 10,000 Thai workers to Hong Kong, which is ten times more than was done in past years. In Hong Kong, salaries for Thai workers are seen as being high; one occupation where salaries might exceed 200,000 baht per month is welding.
