Thaifex-Anuga Asia is expected to bring in at least 70 billion baht when it debuts in Bangkok next month.

After Covid-19, the trade show will return in full form for the first time in four years.

A total of 60,000 attendees, buyers, and decision-makers from over 120 territories are anticipated, in addition to almost 3,000 exhibitors from 43 nations, according to the organizers on Wednesday.

A global platform for business agreements, innovation exploration, and marketing expansion would be formed by over 5,500 booths spread throughout 11 exhibition halls totaling 130,000 square meters, they stated.

The organizers include Koelnmesse, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP).

As a result of the Commerce Ministry’s promotion of Thai cuisine, the event will also highlight Thailand’s position as a top producer and exporter of high-caliber food, according to DITP director Natiya Suchinda.

A chef competition and knowledge-sharing seminar, a dedicated area for halal food, future food and innovations, and exhibitions on trade information, Thai fruits, and Thai trade and food-related organizations are just a few of the special events planned. The Thaifex-Virtual Trade Show will run concurrently with the on-site fair and feature product catalogs, 3D models, pictures, and videos. According to Natiya, trade agreements will be hammered out at the virtual market through video conferences, chat, or SMS.

According to her, Thaifex is anticipated to produce orders and commerce totaling more than 70 billion baht, with more than 1.5 billion baht in only online purchases.

However, she continued, those numbers just scratch the surface of what Thai and foreign companies can gain indirectly as a result of the event.

According to TCC Secretary-General Kitsana Vachekrilas, Thailand was the world’s fifteenth-largest exporter of food in 2022, with a growth rate of 22.7% on an annual basis to 1.36 trillion baht. The rise was caused by an increase in the demand for food as nations gradually opened their borders.

According to Kitsana, the full restoration of Thaifex has been well received by large food enterprises because it gave them the chance to evaluate the feasibility of the market and open up international commercial opportunities. He predicted that the expo would lead to a considerable growth in Thailand’s food and beverage sector.

According to Kitsana, this year’s Thaifex-Anuga Asia will feature the most recent technological advancements and innovations for sustainability in the food and beverage industries.

Zero-waste and food-waste innovations, eco-friendly production techniques with Carbon Footprint and Eco Score labeling, and other initiatives to support sustainable practices along the entire value chain will be among them.

According to Phusit Sasitaranondha, managing director of KoelnmesseThailand, organizers will show that advancements in sustainability are not just a fleeting trend but a reality that must be accepted by all stakeholders.

Thaifex will put its words into action by recycling banners into bags and favoring digital over printed products to lessen its environmental impact, he said.
