The Airbus A380 will be sent by Lufthansa this winter to Bangkok and Los Angeles.

Bangkok and Los Angeles are in this winter while JFK and Boston are out.

This winter, Lufthansa will operate Airbus A380 flights from Munich to Los Angeles and Bangkok. Now you can reserve them. When it departs from Munich for Boston on June 1 and New York JFK on July 4, the carrier will resume operating the double-decker. Although this is subject to change as of April 27, neither Boston nor JFK are prepared to see the kind throughout the winter.

Los Angeles to Frankfurt on the A380

Beginning on October 5, Lufthansa will fly the A380 between Los Angeles and Munich, its second-largest hub. From March 2018 to October 2019, the double-decker was last utilized on the 9,638-kilometer (5,989-mile) route. It’s ironic that it was never utilized in the winter; it was only used in the summer.each flight has 74% more seats.

It will take over daily service in place of the summer-only non-first-class A350-900. Naturally, Los Angeles enjoys a pleasant winter climate. Each trip will now have 509 seats instead of 293, a significant 216-seat increase (+74%) due to the switch to the A380. The A380s of the carrier are outfitted as follows:

(1-2-1 configuration) Eight first class seats

78 seats in business class (2-2-2)

52 seats in the premium economy (2-4-2)

371 seats (3-4-3) in the economy

There are now eight first class seats (new), 78 business seats (up 30%), 52 premium economy seats (up 31%), and 371 additional standard economy seats (up 147%). Particularly noteworthy is the return of first class on the route.

Bangkok on board a Lufthansa A380

The A380 will be used by Lufthansa between Munich and Bangkok starting on October 28—the final day of the northern aviation summer season (March 26–October 28). Since the winter is the most popular time of year to visit the country, the first flight from Thailand will take place on the opening day of the winter season. Flights from Munich to Bangkok can be found here.

The A350-900 is replaced by the A380, just like Los Angeles. The German powerhouse used the A380 from Frankfurt to Munich between 2017 and 2020, but not from Frankfurt to Bangkok.

Notably, Lufthansa has never offered first class on the Munich-Bangkok route, at least not in the previous 20 years.

Bangkok’s fourth A380 flight

Lufthansa restarted its Munich-Bangkok service in 2019 after terminating it in 2006. It is scheduled as follows this winter, all timings local:

Bangkok to Munich: LH772, 22:20-14:55+1 (11 hours, 35 minutes block time).

Munich to Bangkok: LH773, 23:40–05:50+1 (12h 10m)

As of April 27, Lufthansa will join Asiana, Emirates, and Qatar Airways as one of four carriers operating the double-decker to Bangkok throughout the upcoming winter. They will each have up to nine daily departures between them.
