Israeli passenger dies while flying with El Al to Thailand

59-year-old reports feeling sick mid-flight, but medical personnel are unable to resuscitate him; he later passes out in the restroom of the aircraft.

Monday from Tel Aviv to Bangkok, an Israeli man passed away on an El Al trip.

The 59-year-old informed flight attendants that he was feeling under the weather on the LY81 flight, and was subsequently given permission to sit in business class where he was given oxygen and drink, according to Hebrew media.

Later, in the restroom of the aircraft, the man passed out.He was given CPR by an emergency service volunteer from ZAKA, a doctor, and a medic who just so happened to be on the flight, but they ultimately declared him dead, according to a ZAKA statement.

The volunteer with ZAKA claimed that the situation was “traumatic” for the travelers. The volunteer was on board the aircraft, and one of the passengers reportedly remarked they felt “in good hands” because of it.ZAKA stated that they were attempting to return the man to Israel since his body was spread across two airplane seats for the duration of the flight.
