Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan committed on Monday to work to have a new constitution written

At a press conference held at the party headquarters, Sudarat declared that her final political task would be to promote the creation of a new charter drafting assembly (CDA) in order to thwart future coups.

A press conference was conducted by Sudarat, who is also the party’s candidate for prime minister, to celebrate her 62nd birthday. Thai Sang Thai Party members and executives were present to wish Sudarat a happy birthday.

Prior to leaving to create her own party, the politician was a founding member of the Pheu Thai Party.

She argued that the May 14 election would continue to be a breeding ground for additional coups because it is still being contested along polarized lines.

She claimed that the amount of money being spent on this election is the highest in Thailand’s political history, both in terms of vote buying and handout promises. Such actions, according to her, were an insult to the populace.

“This election represents the decisive conflict between two diametrically opposed parties, and neither side can afford to lose. As a result, after the election, the war will continue, causing new disputes and offering new justifications for coups, she warned. However, Thai Sang Thai will not permit this to occur. She emphasized that populist party policies will keep the nation caught in a cycle of corruption and later “good people” coups.

She explained that as a result, Thai Sang Thai will advocate for a political shift by including the populace in the creation of a new charter.

By choosing a new CDA, which will create and establish new political rules for parties to follow in future elections, she claimed that the only way Thailand can break free from this vicious cycle is by giving the people their mandate back.

Sudarat stated that the new constitution should effectively thwart coup attempts and guarantee that it is not overthrown once more. Independent organizations operating under the new charter ought to be subject to public oversight as well.

She continued by saying that her party would never act as a nominee for anyone and would never permit itself to be used as a stepping stone for a dictator. “Our big boss is the people,” she proclaimed.
