North and Northeastern Highways Experience Increased Traffic as Holiday Travelers Return to Bangkok

Traffic on two highways heading towards Bangkok from Nakhon Sawan started to build up on Monday afternoon as travelers began their return journey from the North and Northeast regions. Despite the Songkran holiday extending until Tuesday, numerous individuals who had left Bangkok for the traditional Thai New Year opted to head back a day earlier to evade potential traffic congestion.

By Monday afternoon, both Highway No. 117 (Nakhon Sawan-Phitsanulok) and Highway No. 122 (Nakhon Sawan bypass) were experiencing notable traffic volumes.

Despite the considerable number of vehicles, traffic in Nakhon Sawan’s Muang district continued to flow relatively smoothly, with only minor slowdowns at major intersections such as Dechart Tiwong and Jiraprawat Nakhon Sawan Army Camp. Highway police officers, tasked with monitoring traffic, indicated that if congestion worsens, one outbound lane will be converted into an inbound lane.
