Don Mueang Airport Gears Up for 4,300 Flights and 700,000+ Passengers During Songkran
Bangkok, Thailand – April 2025 — Don Mueang International Airport is preparing for a surge in travel during the Songkran holiday from April 11–17, with over 700,000 passengers expected to pass through the airport on 4,391 flights, according to the Airports of Thailand (AOT).
- Daily average: ~627 flights and 100,234 passengers
- Breakdown: 2,705 domestic flights and 1,686 international flights
- Busiest day forecasted: April 11
- Passenger split: ~282,490 international, ~419,146 domestic
- Year-over-year increase: Flights up 3.1% from 2024
AOT chief Kerati Kijmanawat urged travelers to arrive at least 2–3 hours early to avoid delays due to high foot traffic.
To improve the travel experience:
- Free parking will be offered from April 12–16
- Extra security personnel and CCTV installations will be in place
- Travelers are encouraged to use the “Sawasdee by AOT” app to streamline check-in and airport navigation
Long-term, Don Mueang Airport plans to expand terminal space to handle up to 40 million passengers annually, boosting both capacity and commercial revenues.
